Military begins two-day training exercise in Kagara …advices public not to panic

The Niger state Government on Tuesday announced that the military will carry out a routine training exercise for some of its soldiers around Kagara town, headquarters of Rafi Local Government Area of the state and its environs from July 21 – 22. 

A statement issued by Mary Noel-Berje, Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Niger state Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, stated that the two-day range classification exercise will see soldiers’ carry out life firing of heavy guns within the period. 

The statement also said there would be lots of noise from gun firing by the soldiers, and advised the people within the locality not to panic, and not to allow mischievous elements deceive them with negative rumour of any impending danger. 

“There should be no public panic because it’s a routine military training exercise. The people around Kagara town and its environs are advised to disregard any attempt by mischief makers who may want to spread false rumour of an impending danger.”
