As part of the preparations of Rivers United

Football Club of Port Harcourt, for the continental and 2020\2021 Nigeria Professional League season, the Adokie Amasiemeka stadium at Igwurita-Ali Port Harcourt and the official residence of the team at Elikahia Port Harcourt, are now wearing new looks.

Addressing sports journalists during a tour of the stadium and players camp on Tuesday, the Rivers state Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Boma Iyaye, said the stadium and players’ camp are in top shape to enable Rivers United FC prepare for their Continental/Nigeria Professional League engagements.

The stadium will serve as home ground for both Rivers United FC and Rivers Angels Football Club of Port Harcourt for 2020/2021 football league season.

“The regrassing and renovation works at the stadium and the players’ camp is aimed at bringing the facilities to international standard. The re-grassing of the main bowl and the training pitches of the stadium are all ready, you saw them during your inspection of the facilities in the stadium.

“The Rivers United camp is undergoing renovation; you were part of the inspection. We are pushing the contractor to put finishing touches, to make sure Rivers United players’ camp is in top shape,” the commissioner explained.

The sports commissioner eulogized Rivers state Governor Chief Nyesom Wike, for approving the funds, and every other logistics for the teams in Rivers state for their various engagements.

“We thank His Execellency, Governor Nyesom Wike for approving the fund to renovate the Adokie Amasiemeka Stadium and other logistics for the continental and national league engagements of Rivers United FC, and Rivers Angels FC.

“The Rivers Angels Football Club will also use the pitch for their league home matches, because the the Yakubu Gowan stadium is now used as isolation center for COVID-19 venue”.

The sports journalists inspected the dressing rooms of both home and away teams, the natural re-grassing of the main bowl and training pitches, the power generation plants, the official residence of Rivers United team, and other facilities.
