Ahead of Saturday, September 19 Edo state Governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday started distribution of sensitive materials to the eighteen Local Government Areas of the state.

This is just as President Muhammadu Buhari, urged political parties and their supporters to behave with decorum to ensure free, fair, credible election on Saturday.

SummitNews Correspondent in Benin City, the Edo state capital, reports that the sensitive materials were moved by pickup vans to the various LGAs accompanied by security agents.

INEC official who spoke to journalists said the vehicles were being tracked, adding that the Commission would swing into action if any of the vehicles veer off from its approved destination.

President Buhari whose party the All Progressives Congress (APC) will slug it out with the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, said he was committed to advancing the cause of democracy in the country.

Fourteen political parties fielded candidates for Saturday’s governorship election, but the APC and PDP are the main contenders in the forthcoming governorship election.

Godwin Obaseki, the current governor of the state, is the candidate of the PDP, while Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is flying the APC flag.
