Ministers: Group tasks Buhari on cabinet shakeup-By Reginald Okoro

President Muhammadu Buhari

The National Council for Democratic Development (NCDD), has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to carryout a cabinet shakeup with a view to injecting new and vibrant blood in his administration.

The group made the call in a statement signed by Mr Onu Nweze, its Executive Director and made available to SummitNews on Tuesday in Abakaliki.

Nweze said that NCDD is a foremost democracy advocacy body that supports the administration of President Buhari especially in the administration’s policies on agriculture, infrastructural development and the anti corruption war.

The organization lauded Mr President for working hard to deliver on his ‘Next Level’ campaign promises to Nigerians especially on security matters, youth and agricuture for food sufficiency.

The group however, frowned at the distractive dispositions of some of the ministerial appointees who it accused of pursuing their own selfish political agenda in stead of working with the president to succeed.

“Our Organization have followed keenly, the performance of President Buhari and have identified huge gains and progress made on agriculture and infrastructural development, anti-graft campaign and insecurity.

“The fight against corruption has steadily been confronted with the right spirit and commitment which is receiving global acclamation.

“We have also observed that while Mr President is working round the clock to deliver on his campaign promises to Nigerians, some of his appointed ministers manning sensitive ministries are not helping him in that regard.

“We observed with dismay, that certain ministers are already launching political organizations to actualize their 2023 agenda.

“The implication of this deviation is that government infrastructure and instrument is now being used to serve the political agenda of these ministers thereby affecting the discharge of their given mandate.

“It is in the news that one of the ministers recently, launched a political organization with visible posters and office for his 2023 presidential election.

“Such is a distraction and abuse of trust and we call on President Buhari to investigate all who have done so among the ministers.

“Official government business should not be allowed to suffering due to political ambitions of such appointed in an administration that just got a fresh mandate from the people as such will portend danger to the actualization of the promises of this administration.

“In another clime, such officials ought to resign to pursue any given ambition, just like Mrs Hillary Clinton did by recusing herself from Obama Second term, as she prepared herself to seek for office of the President of the United States,” Nweze said.

The group therefore urged the president to dissolve or reshuffle the Federal cabinet as a matter of serious national interest in other to inject fresh blood and energy in his administration.
