Gov Okezie Ikpeazu
The Hall of Igbo Achievers Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has expressed deep thanks to God for delivering the Abia state Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, from the deadly coronavirus disease.
In a statement issued in Umuahia today by its Public Relations Officer, Hon. Steve Eze, and made available to journalists, the Foundation congratulated Gov. Ikpeazu for defeating the coronavirus disease, adding that his recovery symbolizes God’s immeasurable love and kindness to him and his family; the government and the good people of Abia state.
The statement urges the good people of Abia state to assist Gov. Okezie, and his administration in the fight against the novel pandemic by diligently obeying the rules and guidelines prescribed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), especially the wearing of face masks, as well as observing social distancing.
The Foundation prayed God to give Gov. Okezie additional strength and wisdom in his efforts to bring development to all the communities in the state.
It will be recalled that the Abia state Government had on June 8 announced via its Twitter handle that the governor had tested positive for coronavirus, and had directed his deputy to act on his behalf.
But on July 3, the state Commissioner for Information, John Okiyi Kalu, announced that Gov. Okezie had recovered from the coronovirus disease.
He said: “To the glory of God, repeat COVID-19 test conducted by Nigeria Center for Disease Control on samples submitted by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu on Thursday, 2nd July 2020, returned negative result on Friday, 3rd July 2020.
“Governor Ikpeazu is, therefore, deemed free of the virus according to the extant guidelines of NCDC, and the World Health Organisation (WHO).”
