Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state on Thursday expressed great shock and pain over the death of the state Commissioner for Health Dr. Wahab Adegbenro.

The governor in a condolence message to the family of the deceased and people of Ondo state, described the late health commissioner as a “great general in the forefront of the battle against COVID-19.”

He continued: I share in your pains and grief.  We have lost a friend, colleague and gentleman par excellence; a dedicated professional whose commitment to assignments given to him is legendary.”

SummitNews gathered that Dr. Adegbenro died at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo in the morning of July 2 of suspected COVID-19 related complications. 

He was 65.

Recall that Gov. Akeredolu this Tuesday tested positive to the virus, and is currently in self-isolation.

Meanwhile, palpable fear has engulfed the state following the rising number of high profile people – including the wife of the governor – infected by the virus.
