Gov. Wike

Rivers state Governor Nyesom Wike, is committed to protecting the lives of residents of the state against the ravaging coronavirus pandemic, Secretary to the state Government (SSG), Dr. Weneike Tammy Danagogo, has assured.

Dr. Danagogo, who is also chairman of the state Food Palliatives Procurement Committee, gave the assurance while receiving palliatives from members of the Petroleum Contractors Trade Section of the Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industry, in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

He regretted that Gov. Wike’s proactive measures to keep the state free of the virus were misunderstood by some people within and outside the state who criticized and resisted such measures.

He said the COVID-19 pandemic would have been reduced to the barest minimum if other state governors had taken proactive steps to combat the plague such as Gov. Wike had done.

He thanked the representatives of the Petroleum Contractors Trade Section led by Mr. Adonijah Owiriwa, for their support to the state government at its time of need.

He urged residents of the stay to abide by the rules of physical distancing, hand washing, use of sanitizer and wearing of face mask.

Earlier, Mr.   Owiriwa, said the support  given to the state government was informed by the fact that most businesses of the association were carried out in Rivers State.
