The Igbo Solidarity Forum, on Monday issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the President-General of Ohanaeze, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Chief Nnia Nwodo, to apologise to the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, for allegedly describing him as a “Bishop without Cathedral,” or face sanctions.

In a statement signed by Barrister Okpani Okoroafor, and Chief Amorji Ikem, national secretary, and national president respectively, and made available to Summit News, the group maintained that the Ohanaeze president-general would face the consequences of his action if he failed within 48-hours to apologise in the national dailies to the vice president and Nigerians over the alleged uncouth statement he made against him.

The forum condemned what it described as a public assault from Nnia Nwodo, “who claims to be representing the interest of Igbos; having gone public to abuse a national figure like the Vice President.”

According to the leaders of the forum, “the vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, is one of the best vice presidents Nigeria ever had since independence.

“For instance, the vice president has a good background, reputation, and good academic qualifications, and on no account should Nnia Nwodo come public next time to describe a man of unquestionable character in a bid to smear his personality.

Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo

“Professor Yemi Osinbajo, is a man of peace who is very loyal, faithful and in unity with his boss, President Muhammad Buhari, GCFR.

“Nnia Nwodo should retract his steps immediately before his actions land him to problems. Or do you want to cry more than the bereaved?

“Such public assault and utterances against the Vice President, a man whose competence has given facelift and spoken volumes to the entire Nigeria and the world at large. You claim to have the interest of Ndigbo at heart whereas you have not put your house in order. Remove the speck in your eyes before pock-nosing into another.

“Have you forgotten that Osinbajo recently chaired the Economic Sustainability Committee Meeting against COVID-19 pandemic outbreak on April 16, 2020, to support each sector of the economy? And this was designed for the primary purpose of creating jobs and ensuring that businesses are flowing throughout the pandemic times.

“If you still have interest to stand as the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, then we are giving you 48hrs to apologise to the Vice President,  Professor Yemi Osinbajo, for calling him a “Bishop without cathedral” or face sanction”, the leaders ordered.
