NDDC uncovers power station components

 In the face of progressive epileptic power supply across the country, the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), said it has uncovered abandoned power station components worth $34 million.

This is even as President Muhammadu Buhari, has announced that the NDDC board will be reconstituted.

The NDDC’s Acting Executive Director of projects, Cairo Ojougboh, made this known in a statement released on Thursday, December 19, Channels TV reports.

 Ojougboh said the power station components were abandoned at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) in Rivers State since 2017.

 Ojougboh said he had received a report on the NDDC cargo and quickly visited the NPA to confirm the report.

 NDDC interim committee said it uncovered $34m power equipment abandoned at Nigerian ports.

 He said he and another member of the committee met the abandoned equipment at the port which was meant for NDDC sub-stations at Ekparagwa and Ikot Epkene in Akwa Ibom state.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, December 19, announced that the board of the NDDC would be reconstituted.

A statement by Femi Adesina, the president’s spokesperson, said the recomposition of the new board would take place after the ongoing forensic audit of the commission which is entangled in alleged corruption web.

This development came about two months after the Senate screened the list of a board sent to the lawmakers by President Buhari
